The DCAN250 device is an additional physical layer for CAN-bus communication over DC power-line. The device can operate as a "transceiver" in the automotive vehicle environment.
Messages from the CAN-bus controller are stored in the transmit FIFO. The data is then coded by a strong error correction code especially designed to meet the power-line typical channel burst noises, and is modulated by a differential QPSK modulator that drives the noisy line (through a passive filter). In the receive side, the messages are converted back into the CAN-bus protocol.

The DC-BUS system consists of up to 16 devices (nodes). It provides services required realizing the CAN-bus physical layer. The DC-BUS network operate as a CSMA channel dedicated for data, control and even voice communication over noisy DC power-line. Main characteristics are:

Data transfer rate: 250 Kbps.
Cable length: Up to 12 m on a DC cable.
Number of Devices: Up to 16 nodes per channel
The DCAN250 device enables CAN-bus messages communication over vehicle's dedicated DC power-line. The device can operate on each of its two channels (F0 and F1). The device is an additional physical layer for the CAN protocol and can become a redundant communication channel for CAN-bus messages.
